EDUCATION
Foundation for Greatness
Because Africa’s Children’s Fund was founded by an educator, our programs and initiatives for fostering better education and assisting other educators with what they do for children is a cornerstone of the organization. For most of the 30 years that we have been serving the community, we have been dedicated to providing books, scholarships for college students and supporting after school and summer programs designed for reading recovery, learning classroom skills and supporting other subjects through tutoring. Education is one of the most important ways that we believe that students can have a chance at success.
Education Program
We believe that preparing children for the future starts with a solid education. Our education program encompasses three main categories—scholarships, The Gift of Books and tutoring—through which we serve children aged elementary through college.
Scholarships are gifted to those who are in secondary school as well as those entering college and universities or persons continuing their education. These special people have impressive GPAs, have a need and are positively connected to their community. We want to assist them in building a strong future.
Giving Hope to Children in the U.S., Africa and the Caribbean The Gift of Books Project involves collecting, sorting, and shipping surplus books and educational supplies for library and learning resource centers in the most disadvantaged communities in Africa.
Tutoring is a major component of our partnerships with communities, both locally and internationally. We work with the students that our partners have identified as having a need. Our tutors act as mentors and are a select group of experienced and retired educational professionals, college students and specialized teachers.
